Swimming in the Rain

I was sitting by my window on the second story when I saw John walking past. I called to him, "John!," and he looked up at me. He was carrying a stack of orange mini-cones in his hand.
"Hey!"
"I told you I could see the basketball courts"
"Yeah!"
"What are you guys doing?" I asked.
"We're gonna play frisbee."
"Oh! You're playing Ultimate Frisbee??"
"Yeah, you should come join us!"
"At the Rec. Center in the upper field?"
"Yeah, by the pool."
"Okay, I'll stop by later."
"Cool! See you there!"

So I went up there. I heard a whistle blowing, and I found that it was the polo players in the big pool. So, I walked up the stairs past the smaller pool and I spied five people playing frisbee in a 12x12 foot area marked at the corners by cones. They were all guys. I recognized tall, blondish John in his red-orange Nike shirt and black shorts. Also BJ, shorter and shirtless, running around in khaki pants and a belt. There was a chubby, sandy blond and two asains, as well.

As I walked back to the dorms, I dipped my hand into the pool's water and found it surprisingly warm. I decided to take a swim. At my room I put on my bathing suit and board shorts. Over that I wore a bottle green hooded shirt. I put on my slip on shoes and quickly jogged over to the recreation center again.

I walked around in the pool with the drizzle coming down - it was great! The dichotemy and the novelty were wonderful. After a little while of enjoying myself, the rain started to come down harder. I hopped out and traipsed down the stairs and back to my room. The pavement was icy cold and slick under my bare feet, but I still jogged, jumped, and twirled before ducking into my building.

These moments are the true part of my life that reflect my self. The hard world is non-existant and cannot touch my precious and mysterious moments. The joy I feel when tasting a blood red orange on a summer's day or the feeling of silk and wind running over my skin are experiences that embody my spirit. Arranging a beautiful bouquet of flowers in a crystal vase pleases me because I can create something lovely and use my expertise to make them bloom before me and extend their life. I enjoy the wonder of God's creation, which He has made for my enjoyment and the reminder of my pleasant time collecting the flowers or of the loved ones who have bestowed such pretty gifts. This is how God wanted people to feel His wide and spectacular creation; with a mixture of peace and excitement; with pleasure and admiration; with love and completion, for it is good.
